Mission
Statement:
The mission of SCS is to inspire, build, and equip students to
glorify God in all they do.
History:
We are
celebrating our 30th year of operation in Stayton, Oregon.
Facilities:
SCS is
located within the Church of Christ (elementary campus) and Foothills Church
(middle school campus). We are very
grateful for the generosity of both organizations.
Membership:
SCS is a member
of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI)
Demographics:

inter-denominational. There are
approximately 26 different churches represented by the student body.
Staff:
There are
a total of 14 employees: one administrator,
a teaching faculty of eight and five classified staff members.
Finances:
The
annual operating budget for 2008-2009 is $338,163.92. The overall purpose of our spending is to
maintain the financial integrity of our ministry through careful
stewardship practices.
Governing Board:
SCS is
governed by a School Board consisting of seven members. Board meetings are open to the public –
the second Monday of each month.
Admissions:
Stayton Christian School admits
students of any race, color, national or ethnic origin - to all rights, privileges, programs
and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the
school.
All families must adhere to the SCS Doctrinal
Statement
Scholarships:
Approximately
3% of the students receive financial assistance. Applications are available and may be
awarded based on the family’s short term financial need. These funds are
distributed on a first-come first-serve basis.
Curriculum:
SCS uses Abeka, Bob
Jones, and ACSI curriculums. They are nationally recognized Christian
academic programs. Their content, scope, and sequence have been
established upon years of research and successful use in classrooms around the
world. Learning expectations are
available for each grade level.
Volunteers:
SCS parents log in more than 2,000 volunteer
hours per year. Parent Alliance organizes
our parent-teacher-school activities.
Fundraisers:
SCS is a non-profit organization. Much of our operation costs are generated
from tuition income and generous contributions from the community. There are two major fundraisers each year: Annual Fund Campaign (October) and Annual
Auction Benefit (March).
Chapel:
There is a school-wide chapel each Wednesday at
8:00 a.m. Staff and students rotate
the facilitation of service. Students
receive daily Bible instruction as a regular class period. A Biblical world view is an integral part
of instruction in all subjects.
Student Life:
Stayton Christian
School requires its students to wear
uniformed clothing. Fridays are casual
dress days. Spirit Week, Family Fun
Night, Grandparents Day, musical performances and field trips are just a
few of our celebrations.
